Paraguay’s government is set to go ahead with the privatisation of Asunción's Silvio Pettirossi International Airport – a year after submitting a bill to congress recommending it.
The bill to concession Asunción–Silvio Pettirossi and several regional airports was finally approved this week, and President, Fernando Lugo, now has around 10 days to decide whether to approve or veto the plan.
Deputy transport minister, Luis María Pereira, is, however, so confident the initiative will be approved that he has told reporters that a deal for Asunción–Silvio Pettirossi could happen in 2012.
The 30-year concession will require an estimated $100mn investment.
