Tampa International Airport has ended its search for a new CEO by naming Joseph Lopano as the successor to Louis Miller, who quit earlier this year and has since been appointed boss of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Lopano, 55, will leave his post as executive vice president at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to take up the position. He faced stiff competition for the job from former Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport CEO, Lester Robinson.

Lopano has been with DFW since 1997 and has extensive experience in the airline business, having held management positions at Continental Airlines, Lufthansa, BWIA and Pan Am. While at Continental, he was the project director for ‘Business First’, the launch of Continental’s new business class product.

He received a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from Pace University in New York and has done graduate work in marketing at the University of Connecticut.
