A ‘flashmob’ made up of singers, dancers and actors supported by a human orchestra imitating musical instruments recently surprised passengers at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 by suddenly performing a melody of hit singles for them.

The performance, which at one time involved a crowd of more than 300 people in the Arrivals Hall as the performers rattled through songs ranging ‘I am the Passenger’ by Iggy Pop and ‘I Knew You Were Waiting (for me)’ by George Michael & Aretha Franklin, was for a new T-Mobile advert shown in the UK.

It is the first time flash mobbing has taken place at a UK airport and the event, which was captured by hidden cameras around the terminal, can now be viewed online:

Spencer McHugh, director of Brand at T-Mobile, says: “We wanted to create and capture a moment that is so unique and upbeat that people just want to share it.” It is expected to be watched by nearly 10 million people across the UK and reach more than two million households.
