Jamaica's newest gateway, Ian Fleming International Airport, is due to open for business later this month.

Located on Jamaica’s north coast and just 10 kilometres from Ocho Rios, the new airport is designed to accommodate ‘high end’ air travellers arrving on private jets.

Formerly known as the Boscobel Airstrip, the facility has undergone extensive refurbishment and expansion and has been built to accommodate aircraft up to the size of the Dash-8.

The airport's facilities include a passenger lounge, pilot briefing room, customs and immigration clearance, and other specialised services for private flights.

Elizabeth Fox, UK regional director of the Jamaica Tourist Board for Northern Europe, says: “The opening of the new international airport will allow international passengers landing by private aircraft to enjoy an easier and more enjoyable experience when arriving in Jamaica.

“The proximity of the new airport to some of the Island’s most popular coastal resorts also makes it an even more attractive point of entry for our luxury seeking international travellers.”

The airport is named after James Bond author and former Jamaica resident Ian Fleming.
