Incheon named world's best airport for sixth successive year

It appears that there is no end to Incheon’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) success, South Korea’s customer service king being named best airport on the planet in 2010 for the sixth successive year.

Incheon – which narrowly beat Singapore Changi to the prize of Best Airport Worldwide in ACI’s annual passenger satisfaction awards – completed a memorable hat-trick as it was also voted the top airport in the Asia-Pacific and 20-40mppa categories.

Hong Kong, Beijing–Capital and Shanghai–Pudong completed the top five best airports in the world, according to the record number of passengers surveyed by ACI throughout 2010.

And the city of Seoul has double reason to celebrate this year as Incheon’s near neighbour, Gimpo, was voted best in the highly competitive 15-25mppa.

ACI director general, Angela Gittens, says: “I extend my congratulations to Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea, which for the sixth straight year has taken the top customer service award honour, Best Airport Worldwide.

"Asia Pacific airports made a clean sweep of this worldwide category, as they did last year, with Singapore Changi Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport, and Shanghai Pudong International Airport garnering respectively the second, third, fourth and fifth places for 2010.

"We applaud the consistent success story of the Asia Pacific airports, which set the bar in service excellence.”

Among the award winners is Dubai International Airport, which was named the Best Airport in the Middle East during 2010 and also picked up a Best Improvement Award (Middle East) accolade.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and chairman of Dubai Airports, says: “I am very happy with Dubai International’s performance not only as the best in the region but also as the best to improve customer service.

"The ACI’s ASQ awards enjoy a very high level of credibility among the world’s travellers as well as among airports globally, and this is a cherished recognition for Dubai. I attribute this achievement to teamwork and our renewed drive for enhancing customer experience across our airports.”
