A total of 790,124 passengers passed through Southwest Florida International Airport in February, a rise of 4.6% on the same month a year ago.

The traffic leader in February was Delta with 171,166 passengers travelling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (131,406), JetBlue (91,899), Southwest (84,633) and US Airways (79,175).

The gateway also registered a 3.7% upturn in air traffic movements for the month.

Southwest Florida International Airport is now a top 50 US airport for passenger traffic, handling 7.5mppa in 2010.
