The Consorcio Aeroportuario Magallanes group, a subsidiary of transport firm Agencias Universales (Agunsa), has won the concession to revamp Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Airport in Chile’s southern region XII.

The Chilean company is set to invest $13 million on the project.

The concession also means that Agunsa will operate the airport – which serves the regional capital Punta Arenas - for the next 15 years.

The project will involve expanding the terminal from 6.240sqm to 7.700sqm, as well as building a new control tower and water treatment plant.

In addition, the road infrastructure around the airport will be improved, along with the drainage, sewage and platform illumination.

Furthermore, investment will help improve the quality of the services offered in the terminal, as well as expand the public parking and transport services at the airport.
