Chopin Airport handled more than 21,000 tonnes of cargo in the first six months of 2011 – up 13.5% on a year earlier.

The airport said that it handled 3,601 tonnes of freight in June – 2.3% down compared with the same month last year – however, thanks to better results earlier in the year, the first half of 2011 in total was a record-breaking period for the gateway.

The most popular cargo destinations for Chopin Airport in terms of the volume handled were: Cologne, Leipzig, Chicago, New York and Shanghai.
