Muscat International Airport has unveiled plans for an iconic new 100-metre high air traffic control tower that will become the tallest building in Oman when it opens in 2014.
The complex will be joined by an air transport management complex, new contingency and training centre and fire and sea rescue facilities and is part of its a multi-billion dollar modernisation programme currently taking place at the gateway.
UK firm TPS and sub-consultants Mott Macdonald and RWDI a working with the Omani construction company, Carillion Alawi, on the projects.
The opening of Muscat International Airport’s new $1.8 billion midfield terminal in 2014 will raise Omani capital city’s gateway’s capacity to 12mppa.
