The new airport terminal at Grand Forks International Airport in North Dakota has opened for business, after 10 years of planning and two years of construction.

The 52,000sqft terminal is double the size of the old one and cost just over $21 million to build.

Named after the former US Senator Byron Dorgan, the new facility replaces one that was nearly half a century old and had undergone four renovation projects over the years.

The new terminal has much more space than the old terminal as well as more parking.

Rick Audette, operations and maintenance manager Grand Forks Regional Airport Authority, said: “The main feature is the space. Those who have flown out of Grand Forks before know the old terminal was small and compact. Now, there's room for people to move around. You can have multiple flights at one time.”
