Sweden’s airports reported a healthy 9% upturn in passenger traffic during August.
Figures released earlier today by airport operator, Swedavia, show that domestic throughput soared by 11% on the same month a year ago and international traffic by 7%.
The respective increases meant that 2.7 million passengers passed through Sweden's airports in August.
“Almost all our airports have had more passengers, which means there continue to be good opportunities to attract new destinations," says Torborg Chetkovich, CEO of Swedavia.
“The higher number of visitors to Sweden has especially had a positive impact on travel.”
Sweden's busiest airports are Stockholm Arlanda and Gothenburg-Landvetter, with the capital city's other gateways of Skavsta and Bromma along with Malmö making up the top five.
