Changi Airports International (CAI) is working on plans for the $100 million upgrade and development of Brunei International Airport.

CAI is acting as a consultant and advisor to the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), which is responsible for upgrading and developing of the country’s only major gateway.

The project would be implemented on a design-build basis by separately appointed contractor.

The scope of consultancy entails assisting the BEDB to develop and prioritise the range of refurbishment needed to modernise the airport terminal and preparing tender documents for the Design & Build contract.

CAI, the international arm of the Changi Airport Group, will undertake project management services during the construction stage. The construction project is expected to be completed within 36 months from the date of commencement.

Wong Woon Liong, CAI’s CEO, says: “We are pleased to be able to participate in the upgrading and development of the international airport of a close neighbouring country. We look forward to an enduring relationship with Brunei International Airport in the years to come.”

In undertaking this consultancy, CAI has formed a consortium with AECOM Asia Co Ltd, a subsidiary of AECOM, a leading engineering consultancy company with airport-related experience.
