Singapore Changi handled nearly 3.7 million passengers in July 2010 – its highest monthly total this year and a rise of 15.9% on the corresponding period last year.

The total means that a total of 23.9 million passengers (+16.9%) have passed through the gateway in the first seven months of 2009.

According to the airport, July’s growth was fuelled by increases in passenger traffic to Northeast and Southeast Asia, which rose 25.1% and 21.5% respectively. Airlines such as Jetstar Asia, Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines increased frequencies with more flights to Denpasar (Bali), Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Osaka.

On the cargo front, 158,000 tonnes were moved in July 2010, a year-on-year growth of 11.8%. For the first seven months of the year, 1.04 million tonnes were handled, representing an increase of 15.8%.
