To mark its 100th anniversary, the luxury cigar and tobacco brand Davidoff has opened its doors at Zurich Airport, the first of many new ‘Flagship Stores’ to be rolled out across the globe.
On December 1, the Oettinger Davidoff Group will open its new Davidoff ‘Flagship Store’ in the revamped ‘Airside Center’ at Zurich Airport.
The new 60sqm shop has been designed to give a sense of the Caribbean to passengers in an attempt to recreate the “flair and savoir faire” of the Dominican Republic, where Davidoff cigars are manufactured.
As a result, the shop’s interior is decorated with “warm colors and wooden lamellae”, and has a 30sqm walk-in humidor with a generous glass frontage.
Meanwhile Zurich Airport’s new store will have an iPad in-store app to help customers discover their own favourite cigar and staff will also be on hand to offer professional advice.
The opening of the Davidoff ‘Flagship Store’ at Zurich Airport heralds a roll-out of the new store concept around the globe.
The concept will be implemented in Davidoff stores around the globe from 2012, from Basel to Palm Beach and from to Tokyo to Shanghai.
This year Davidoff of Geneva celebrates its centenary after Henri Davidoff opened the first tobacco store in Geneva in 1911.
Today there is a worldwide network of 65 Davidoff Flagship Stores.
Henri Davidoff‘s son, Zino, learned the tobacco trade from scratch and stayed several years in South and Central America to deepen his knowledge of tobacco and cigars.
In 1930 he returned to Switzerland and successfully managed the business for forty years. In 1970 Zino Davidoff transferred the business to the Oettinger Group, a Swiss family business.
