Paris CDG unveils new 'Parisian department store' duty free concept

LS travel retail yesterday unveiled its new vision for duty-free and luxury in travel retail with the official opening of its new commercial area at Paris-CDG’s S4 satellite.

The new boarding satellite of Terminal 2E boasts a BuY PARIS DUTY FREE department store and a series of multi and mono brand stores – which include a new format Fnac store – spread across a vast 6,000sqm area.

Airport operator, Aéroports de Paris (ADP), claims that the development of the BuY PARIS concept and the duty free vision firmly places Paris on the map as the ‘capital of creation’ with the focus on three key categories: Beauty, Fashion and Gastronomy. 

According to LS travel, the concept aims to deliver the finest of Parisian shopping experiences to passengers through its department store concept, and fashion offer presented in L’Avenue, a tree-lined 1,500sqm retail area in S4.

The department store features the unmistakably Parisian architecture and design of the city’s famous downtown stores from the elegant marble-esque and mosaic floors to the huge iron gates at its entrance.

Speaking at yesterday’s opening, LS travel retail’s chief operating officer EMEA, Vincent Romet, described the new 2,200sqm BuY PARIS DUTY FREE as his company’s “flagship store”.

Not unexpectedly the store pays homage to iconic brands such as Chanel, Dior, Guerlain, Lancôme, Clarins, Fauchon, Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot and Mariage Frères.



LS travel retail EMEA, COO Vincent Romet comments: “Together with Aéroports de Paris, we are proud to launch this latest flagship store and also reveal our new BuY PARIS COLLECTION store, which builds on the success of our unique BuY PARIS DUTY FREE walkthrough store concept. 

“The concept has definitely established a new standard in the travel retail experience, in terms of both economic performance and also in delivering an outstanding customer experience for the millions of travellers passing through Paris-Charles de Gaulle.”

Yesterday's launch followed the March 2012 opening of the first BuY PARIS DUTY FREE at Paris CDG in the connecting building between terminals 2A and 2C.
