Retail revenues on rise at Portuguese airports

Portuguese airport operator, ANA, claims that it has bucked the trend by reporting a 13% rise in retail sales at Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Ponta Delgada airports during the first half of 2012.

Portuguese airport operator, ANA, claims that it has bucked the trend by reporting a 13% rise in retail sales at Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Ponta Delgada airports during the first half of 2012.

The upturn – driven by an 11% upturn in sales at Lisbon Airport – ensured a 6% increase in retail revenues over the corresponding period a year ago.

ANA attributes soaring demand at Lisbon to the opening of new airside shops which included the introduction of Portugal’s first walkthrough duty free store.

“This extraordinary sales performance shows that we hit the nail on the head with our new commercial mix for the priority consumer segments identified in our Strategic Plan,” says ANA’s retail director, Luis Rodolfo.
