Russia: Novosibirsk Airport sees international passengers rise by a third

Novosibirsk International Airport handled 247,489 passengers in January, representing an 14.6% increase on the same month last year.

Novosibirsk International Airport handled 247,489 passengers in January, representing an 14.6% increase on the same month last year.

Monthly passenger traffic on international routes totalled 110,055 passengers (up 32.8%), while on domestic routes saw 137,434 passengers (up 3.2%).

The year-to-date (January) freight volume reached 1,648.4 tonnes, a 9% increase.

Novosibirsk International is the largest air hub east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia.

The two-runway airport expects to serve more than 3.7 million passengers in 2013.
