Sydney Airport has welcomed the launch of a second daily A380 service from Singapore Airlines.
The 471 seat A380 replaces the 278 seat B777-300ER formerly operated on the Sydney-Singapore route. The extra 193 seats provided on each flight means that 140,000 extra seats to and from Sydney will be available each year.
Sydney Airport CEO, Russell Balding, enthuses: "In just three years, Sydney Airport has become one of the most A380 intensive airports in the world. The new aircraft has had an exceptionally trouble free introduction into service at Sydney Airport."
The gateway invested A$128 million in new and upgraded infrastructure in order to ensure that it was equipped to handle the superjumbo.
