Vancouver Airport Authority appoint new CEO

Craig Richmond will take over as Vancouver Airport Authority’s president and CEO on July 2.

He is returning to Vancouver International Airport (YVR), where he worked from 1995 for 11 years in roles including manager for airside operations and vice president of operations.

Mary Jordan, chair, Airport Authority Board of Directors, described Richmond as "a homegrown success story".

She said: "A unique mix of work experience, skills, education and values amassed over a lifetime in aviation – including a decade’s worth of experience as a Canadian military fighter pilot – make Craig a great fit for a great job."

In 2006, Richmond joined Vantage Airport Group. As president and CEO of Nassau Airport Development Company he oversaw a $409 million development project.

In the north of England, he also worked as CEO of Liverpool John Lennon, Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield and Durham Tees Valley airports.

Most recently before his return to Vancouver, Richmond served as CEO at Larnaka International and Pafos International airports in Cyprus.

He succeeds Larry Berg, who announced he was to retire last year. Berg has led the airport authority for the last 15 years.
