Screening process introduced at Washington and Indianapolis

The TSA Pre✓™ service will allow more US customers to be screened and cleared before arriving at the airport and minimise the time taken to pass through security.

Previously available only to frequent fliers the new process allows customers to bypass normal security checks such as removing shoes and outer clothing and allows them to keep laptops and compliant liquids in their carrier-on luggage.

In order to register for the service customers must enrol at one of the aforementioned airports to have their fingerprints and identification details taken and checked.

The process costs $85 for a five-year membership and once approved members will be allowed access to fast security check areas in over 40 airports nationwide.

“This initiative will increase the number of US citizens eligible to receive expedited screening, through TSA Pre✓™,” said TSA administrator John Pistole.

“TSA Pre✓™ enables us to focus on the travellers we know the least about, adding efficiency and effectiveness to the screening process.”
