Airport operator Swedavia and the Nationalmuseum will hold a photographic portrait exhibition in 2014.
The display will give travellers the chance to enjoy a selection of artworks from the Nationalmuseum’s collection.
Entitled Crossing Borders, the exhibition will feature in Terminal 5 at Arlanda in the Spring and in the autumn at Umea, which is European Capital of Culture next year.
Each portrait will be of a Swede who has challenged and crossed borders in a variety of different ways.
Berndt Arell, Nationalmuseum’s director general, says: “Airports offer wonderful possibilities for large numbers of people to enjoy some of our exhibits.
“We greatly welcome this joint project with Swedavia, which will enable us to present art and design in a variety of new settings.”
Michael Persson-Gripkow, chief commercial and marketing officer at Swedavia, says the airport wants to create airports ‘travellers look forward to visiting’.
“This joint project is beyond the usual experience you can expect at an airport,” he added.
