Famous for his Michelin three star Fat Duck restaurant in Bray, Berkshire, and unique and distinctive style, he will bring his innovative culinary menu to The Queen’s Terminal, which is set to open in June, 2014.
Still under wraps, the concept and menu, are currently being developed, but will showcase the celebrity chef's love for nostalgia and celebrate his pride of all things British, including our much loved and familiar dishes.
The menu will feature some of Britain’s favourite meals inspired by his ‘In Search of Perfection’ television series.
The concept for the restaurant will draw on all aspects of the chef’s inimitable and creative approach to cooking bringing a brand new dining dynamic to Heathrow.
“This is an incredible project,” Blumenthal explained. “There are so many different elements to consider when people are travelling.
“We want to deliver a broad spectrum of easy to enjoy, familiar dishes from fish and chips to pizza.
“When we made the ‘In Search of Perfection’ series we spent hours researching the temperature of a pizza oven or the crunch of batter; it’s this inspiration that is behind the menu at Heathrow – with some truly British eccentricity thrown in for good measure."
The £2.5 billion Terminal 2 will showcase the best of the UK’s art and engineering talents and now one of its most inspirational culinary minds.
Muriel Zingraff-Shariff, Heathrow’s retail director, says: “This new restaurant will certainly introduce a unique and original dimension to the airport eating experience at Heathrow.”
