Boise Airport has opened the second phase of its airport parking expansion project.

Construction on the West Garage expansion began in January 2013.

Mirroring the Central Garage design that was completed in 2003, the new section adds 755 covered parking spaces.

Total parking capacity at both West and Central garages is now 2,348, in addition to the 585 long-term and 86 short-term surface spaces.

The $13 million project was paid for through the issuance of $11.6 million in bonds and $1.4 million in airport cash reserves.

The airport hopes that the new expansion will accommodate passengers’ parking needs for the next 15 years or so.

The off-site Victory Road Economy Parking Lot, opened around Thanksgiving 2012, will now close to incoming vehicles, and will be reserved for future overflow parking needs.

The new West Garage has four electric car charging stations. More stations can be added at a later date as the need arises.
