Traffic on the rise at ASUR run airports in Mexico

Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) says passenger traffic across the nine Mexican airports it operates were up 7.8% in December, compared to the same month in 2012.

A total of 1,951,618 passengers travelled through Cancun, Merida, Cozumel, Villahermosa, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Huatulco, Tapachula and Minatitlan in the southeast of Mexico.

This was an increase on the 1,810,068 that passed through the departure and arrivals gates at the nine airports in December 2012.

Traveller traffic at Cancun rose 6.3% to 1,457,987 from 1,371,725 while Merida increased by 12.1% to 125,568, from 112,003 and Veracruz 15.9% to 95,348 from 82,294, but Minatitlan had the biggest rise of 64.6% to 18,088 from 10,991.
