São Paulo International to have new Wi-Fi network installed

South America’s largest airport São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU Airport) will have a new Wi-Fi and distributed antenna system (DAS) installed.

Boingo Network has been chosen to enhance the data coverage and capacity and will design, install and manage the new system.

It will provide the network through facilities, including the airport’s newest terminal, ensuring network access to all customers and carriers.

Boingo offers Wi-Fi services throughout GRU Airport, such as complimentary Wi-Fi access to travellers and premium service for streaming videos, uploading larger files and using VoIP services.

Luis Ritzmann, CIO of GRU Airport, says: “Boingo’s industry-leading Wi-Fi and distributed antenna services and new, state-of-the-art networks will help us meet the data demands of our travellers, and will ensure an excellent experience even during peak usage times – like travel timed to the global sports events Brazil is hosting in the coming years.

“The Boingo neutral host DAS and Wi-Fi sponsorship models will enable us to provide world-class connectivity while continually investing in the network.”

GRU Airport handles more than 35 million passengers a year and is the busiest hub in South America.
