Traffic soars 7.1% in February at ASUR airports

Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) today announced that passenger traffic for February 2014 soared by 7.1% compared to February 2013.

ASUR says 1,789,349 travellers used the nine airports it owns and operates in the southeast of Mexico.

The total reached 1,671,203 in 2013, and the operator says the figures reflect comparisons between February 1 through February 28, for both the years.

Cancún International Airport welcomed 1,376,276 million passengers, up 7% on the 1,285,609 in 2013, and Merida Airport, handled 99,842, up 5.5% on the 94,673 the year before.

The biggest risers were Minatitlan, up 58.2% to 16,873, Tapachula, up 20%, to 13,850 and Cozumel, up 12% to 49,374.

ASUR also operates, maintains and develops the airports of Villahermosa, Oaxaca, Veracruz, and Huatulco, all in the southeast of Mexico.
