Barack Obama’s deputy, this week urged more investment in US gateways, and singled out New York’s LaGuardia Airport, for what he says has ‘aging facilities’.
Burke explains in a statement: “We appreciate vice president Biden’s effort to make airport infrastructure a top priority for the US.
“We look forward to working with the Obama Administration, Congress, and aviation stakeholders to build consensus and find affordable solutions to the serious challenges we face as our nation’s airport infrastructure ages.
“For far too long, US airports have done more with less, but we are at a breaking point, just as the vice president noted today.
“Improving America’s airport infrastructure is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Local airports need access to essential and flexible financing to address the dire infrastructure challenges they face."
