Airport lounge operator reports summer sales surge

UK airport lounge operator No.1 Traveller has reported it has seen a sales surge this summer as travellers look to escape the "hustle and bustle" of busy gateways.

The premium hospitality specialist operates lounges at London Heathrow’s T3, at both of London Gatwick’s terminals, and at Stansted Airport, Birmingham Airport and Edinburgh Airport.

At Gatwick, No.1 Traveller explains it has seen a 20% increase year-on-year, while at No.1 Birmingham a rise of 62%, and an increase of 50% at No.1 Stansted.

No.1 Traveller also launched an innovative new lounge concept, My Lounge (main image), aimed at the fun-seeker and more casual traveller at Gatwick’s North Terminal last month.

This it explains has been an immediate “commercial and critical success” - welcoming several thousand passengers in its first month of operations.

Phil Cameron, founder & CEO of No.1 Traveller, comments: “The lounge market continues to grow, especially for No.1, with a staggering increase in passenger numbers year-on-year.

“We’ve been able to broaden our market to include a more relaxed, cross-generational crowd with My Lounge, which is a much more inclusive experience and breaks through the perceived formality of traditional lounges.

“Allowing people a choice has immediately increased our appeal so we look forward to rolling out My Lounge elsewhere.”

No.1 Traveller also operates three Escape Lounge’s at Manchester Airport’s, where it runs one in each terminal.
