The number of scheduled passengers increased 4.1% in June and 6.2% in July, in comparison to the same months a year ago, according to the airport’s monthly scheduled airline traffic report prepared by the Allegheny County Airport Authority.
This marks the third and fourth consecutive month of increases in enplaned passengers at Pittsburgh International.
Some of the contributing factors included maturing routes on Southwest to Houston Hobby and Nashville, and an additional 3,000 passengers on PEOPLExpress flights, larger aircraft flying to Chicago, and other factors.
A total of 763,921 passengers travelled through the airport in July 2014 compared to 719,380 in July 2013, while 755,989 passengers travelled through the airport in June 2014 compared to 725,944 that travelled in June 2013.
Year-to-date, traffic is up 0.8% as 4,622,730 passengers have passed through the airport in 2014 compared to 4,584,099 in July of 2013.
