Billings Logan begins operations of the TSA Pre programme

Billings Logan International Airport has today become the latest gateway to begin operations of the TSA Pre - an expedited screening programme by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The system allows select flyers into Billings to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag.

Billings becomes the 124th airport in the country where passengers can experience expedited screening, and airlines serving Billings that participate in the programme are Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.

TSA federal security director for Montana, Dan Fevold, explains: “We are pleased to offer TSA Pre✓® to passengers departing from BIL.

“TSA Pre not only makes the travel experience more convenient, it allows us to focus our resources on passengers who may pose a higher risk to security while providing expedited screening to those travellers who have been identified as low-risk, trusted travellers.”

TSA Pre is part of the agency’s efforts to focus its resources and improve the passenger experience at security checkpoints by applying new intelligence-driven, risk-based screening procedures and enhancing its use of technology.

Once approved, passengers will receive a known traveller number (KTN) and will have the opportunity to utilize TSA Pre lanes at security checkpoints at 124 participating airports and on 11 major airlines.
