The new restaurant is in direct response to passenger feedback to see a wagamama at Gatwick after recent research saw the brand hit the top spot for restaurant chains passengers would like to visit at the airport with 33% asking for it, which the UK's second busiest airport says ensures the experience "truly reflects passengers’ needs".
The restaurant will have an extensive offering including be open 365 days a year from the first flight through until the last flight with a classic format of an open kitchen and communal eating.
Other features are a healthy breakfast menu that is unique to an airport, separate take-away counter, pre-order service and fast payment app for passengers, and stools with secure storage built-in for hand luggage, andUSB charge points.
Charlotte Christiansen, business development manager for catering at Gatwick, says: “We are delighted that the innovative wagamama brand will be opening a flagship restaurant at Gatwick next summer. wagamama is a world-renowned restaurant and is hugely popular with our passengers and its extensive menu is perfectly matched to airport dining as it is quick, fresh and sumptuous.
“A third of our passengers told us they would like to see a wagamama at Gatwick so we have acted on this.”

The gateway says passenger ratings of F&B concessions at Gatwick have improved significantly in recent years, with 86% of passengers now scoring the selection of outlets available as either excellent or good.
