Terminal 4 at New York's JFK breaks traffic barrier

To celebrate welcoming the 17 millionth passenger of 2014 – an increase of 2.6 million over the previous year's total – JFKIAT, the company that manages Terminal 4 at New York's JFK International Airport, gave away surprise gifts to its landmark traveller.

JFKIAT/Terminal 4 – with the help of Delta Air Lines, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey – marked the occasion with passenger, Jared Gerber, along with his wife, Sara Yerry, who were on their way to Madrid to celebrate their first wedding anniversary, traveling on Delta.

To honour the milestone, the terminal presented him and his party with a number of prizes and perks, including access to the priority screening checkpoint lane, a mini shopping spree at the airport via a $250 gift card.

Also, upon on return they were given tickets to a Broadway show, including dinner, while Delta offered the couple an upgrade to business class, access to the Delta Sky Club and a gift basket.

In addition, a representative from the authority was on hand to present the couple with a JFK Airport hat and a coffee table book.

Gert-Jan de Graaff, president and CEO of JFKIAT, says: "This is a landmark day for our terminal and for air travellers worldwide. As the premier international terminal at New York’s JFK Airport, reaching the 17-million-passenger milestone is a matter of tremendous pride for all of us associated with this remarkable transportation center.

"Today’s air passengers appreciate the top-of-the-line retail shops, restaurants, and overall comfort they find here at JFK’s Terminal 4.”
