The Finnair Lounge at Helsinki’s Terminal 2 has beaten more than 600 other lounges worldwide to be named ‘Lounge of the Year 2011’.

The award is based on more than 40,000 ratings made by Priority Pass members from all over the world.

Operated by SSP Finland, the lounge offers passengers a selection of drinks and snacks, together with a buffet serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

As well as the usual comfortable seating and work areas, the lounge also has six private shower suites and luggage storage so it is ideally suited to passengers with long-haul layovers.

Furthermore, there is a spa next to the lounge which offers treatments designed to combat the side effects of flying, and includes a steam room, four saunas and a stone bath.

Meanwhile, in addition to the main award, Priority Pass members also awarded the Finnair Lounge the “Best Business Facilities” title.

Jonathan French, head of brand at Priority Pass, said: “The Finnair Lounge is a deserved winner with innovative design and facilities matched by high standards in refreshments and an excellent, peaceful atmosphere.”
