The Nuance Group has announced that it will open Switzerland’s first Arrival duty free shops at Geneva and Zurich airports this summer.
The planned June 1 opening follows a change in Swiss legislation allowing the country’s international airports to open duty free outlets for arriving passengers.
“This is a very exciting development for us, as we believe arrival duty free is a great opportunity to extend our services to customers flying into Switzerland,” enthuses Andrea Belardini, Nuance’s CEO for Europe.
“Together with our airport partners, we aim to provide exciting new retail opportunities, not only for Swiss residents, who can enjoy a very convenient shopping experience, but also business and leisure travellers coming to and from Switzerland.
“Now with the addition of the arrival shops, we’ll have the opportunity to capture all arriving flows.”
Work is already nearing completion at both key gateway locations, where the company will add a further 2,000sqm of arrivals retail space to its existing Swiss operations.
The introduction of the new stores will also enable the company to launch a new ‘collect on return’ service, which will allow passengers to select products upon departure and pick up upon their return into Switzerland.
Nuance has enjoyed a long-standing presence in Switzerland, having commenced retail operations at Zurich Airport 50 years ago.
