All change at the top at Northern Capital Gateway

Sergey Furs is the new CEO of Northern Capital Gateway, the operator of St Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport, following the departure of predecessor, Sergey Emdin.

Furs has held the position of procurement and warehousing director with the Northern Capital Group (NCG) since 2010.

Emdin had headed NCG since April 1, 2010, and under his leadership oversaw the first stage of Pulkovo Airport's €1.2 billion facelift, the key element of which was a new 170,000sqm terminal equipped to handle up to 18 million passengers per annum.

Other new additions included a revamp amd modernisation of the gateway's airside and landside infrastructure as well as the addition of a business centre and a hotel.

Around 13.5 million passengers passed through the airport in 2015 – more than double the annual total of just five years ago.

Sergey Emdin will continue his work at a senior management level in VTB Group and will remain on NCG's Board of Directors.
