The St Lucia Air and Seaports Authority has introduced a new $35 Airport Development Tax on passengers travelling through Hewanorra International Airport.
The airport development charge is intended to help fund a $140 million redevelopment and expansion project which is planned for the gateway.
It will affect all passengers arriving at or departing from St Lucia, including those travelling on inter-island regional airlines within the Caribbean, as well as people on international routes.
However, passengers who are in transit for less than 24 hours will be exempt from the $35 fee.
The charge came into effect on 1 May.
