New Jamie Oliver restaurants to open at Düsseldorf Airport

Düsseldorf Airport has awarded F&B provider, SSP, a seven-year contract valued to operate eight food and beverage outlets, as well as a state-of-the-art conference centre.

The contract is valued at £90 million with the outlets opening between 2017 and 2019.

It will pave the way for a number of firsts for German airports, including two concepts from UK celebrity chef Jamie Oliver – Jamie's Deli by Jamie Oliver and Jamie's Coffee Van.

In addition, SSP will be opening a new concept by German TV chef, Tim Mälzer, called Hausmann’s.

This full service restaurant, designed in vintage style, will serve a contemporary German menu.

Locally renowned names including French-inspired café and patisserie Epi, and Italian family-restaurant ‘4 Cani’ will also feature, as well as international fast food brand KFC.
The brand mix will be completed by a number of bespoke concepts showcasing the cuisine and culture of the Düsseldorf area, and crafted to meet the needs of its airport’s passengers.

Among these is Carls, named after the city’s famous Carlsplatz food market, which is a modern-style café and bar, where travellers can order via tablets and are entertained by an over-sized interactive LCD screen.

Managing director of Düsseldorf Airport, Thomas Schnalke, says that he is proud to welcome such renowned brands as Jamie Oliver and Tim Mälzer’s Hausmann’s at Düsseldorf Airport.

“With SSP as a main F&B tenant going forward, we are strengthening our reputation as an airport where passengers can be entertained on their journey," he enthuses.

"We are also delighted that SSP will operate our 3,000 square meter premium DUS Conference Center, a modern concept, which will set a benchmark within our industry.”
