Denver registers a record high for passenger traffic in September

The latest traffic figures released by Denver International Airport today show that the Colorado gateway enjoyed its busiest ever September.

A record 5.1 million passengers passed through the airport in September, marking its 13 consecutive month of record-setting passenger traffic.

The total means that 43.5 million passengers used the airport in the first nine months of the year – 8.2% up on the corresponding period in 2015.

“This was the first September in Denver history with more than five million passengers,” enthuses airport CEO, Kim Day.

“Our airline partners continue to experience strong growth, a reflection of Denver’s robust economy, which is generating a high propensity to travel and strong inbound demand for visitors travelling to Colorado.”

A total of 171,118 international passengers travelled through the airport in September 2016, an increase of 16.1% on September 2015.

Mail, freight and express cargo operations saw 47,405,681 pounds of cargo in September 2016, an increase of 0.5% compared to the same month in 2015.
