Dixons Travel to expand presence at Düsseldorf and Frankfurt airports

Dixons Travel has announced plans to open five new stores in both Frankfurt and Düsseldorf airports by the end of 2018.

The move follows the launch of two Dixons Travel stores in Oslo last year, building on the retailer’s European presence and adding to 29 existing stores across UK and Ireland.

With more than 167,000 passengers a day, Frankfurt airport’s increasing footfall has seen it rise to one of the busiest airports in Europe; providing the opportunity for Dixons Travel to offer their proposition to a continually expanding customer base.
As one of Germany’s largest business hubs, Düsseldorf was also a natural choice. With a focus on high-end computing and mobile technology, it corresponds closely with the Dixons Travel product offering.

The new stores will follow the same format that was launched in Heathrow Terminal 3 in 2017, which has been shortlisted in the 2018 World Retail Awards.

With a digital concept design, the stores feature a unique proposition offering customers top electrical brands with a varied product range including computing, audio, imaging, phones and smart appliances.

The stores include dedicated product demonstration areas, a mobile phone charging area, Team Knowhow experts on hand to offer repairs and fixes to existing technology, plus smart-controlled tech for shoppers to try out.
Heidi Woodhouse, managing director for Dixons Travel and Concessions at Dixons Carphone, comments: “We’re excited to be bringing our new-look Dixons Travel stores to more shoppers across Europe, providing a unique shopping experience - this time designed especially with the German market in mind.

She adds: “Through this new store offering, we aim to share our extensive product range, exclusive deals and competitive prices with a rapidly expanding market. We are excited about our venture into wider Europe and will look to explore further opportunities.”

The five stores are set to open during spring 2018 in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf airports, providing passengers with the chance to purchase the latest technology in time for the first and last flights of the day.
