Located at the heart of the airport under the iconic tented roof of the Jeppesen Terminal, the Great Hall will be completely revamped over the next four years to relocate and enhance security, increase capacity, upgrade aging infrastructure and enhance the customer experience through increased, improved and better-positioned concessions.
Great Hall Partners, the consortium tasked with carrying out the facelift, will reveal more details about the RFP process at the Kimpton Hotel in downtown Denver on April 16.
“With the launch of the RFP process, Great Hall Partners aims to inspire a new type of airport retailing, one that’s driven by the call to entrepreneurship and the spirit of the New American West,” said Ignacio Castejon, CEO of Great Hall Partners.
“These ambitions reflect the attitudes and interests of the people whom this terminal will serve: a fast-growing population that is smart, well-educated and adventurous, many of whom are frequent fliers with long dwell time and have high disposable income.”
Castejon noted that Denver’s passenger mix and demographics "present a highly attractive customer segment for retailers, services and restauranteurs alike".
He added: "We believe these passengers are ready to welcome new experiences into their airport.”
During the April 16 event, interested concessionaires will be provided with details of the opportunities available in the Great Hall.
The renovation will ultimately create 63,000 total square feet of space for 50 commercial units offering an integrated passenger experience.
The RFPs being released are for the first 10 commercial units.
According to Great Hall Partners, it is focused on creating "the perfect mix of culinary offerings and high-performance and innovative retail brands, while encouraging minority and small businesses participation".
It insists that the goal is to create a travel experience that melds the culture of the city and region with new impulses, flavours and colours from around the globe; to inspire passengers to relax and to spend more time in the new airside experience.
At the conclusion of the April 16 event, the online application for the RFP process will open at rfp.greathallpartners.com.
“Our goal for the launch event is to share our vision for this project, spark enthusiasm, and ultimately inspire forward-thinking concessionaires to propose a mix of local, regional, national and global concepts for the new concession space,” said Castejon.
“With 61.4 million passengers and 19.7 million O&D enplanements at Denver International Airport in 2017 alone, the new Great Hall design will present an incredible business opportunity for concessionaires.”
Interested concessionaires should register to attend the event online. Space is limited.
Ferrovial Airports is a key member of the Great Hall Partners consortium.
The other members of Great Hall Partners are Saunders Construction and JLC, an investment fund created by Loop Capital and Magic Johnson Enterprises. Ferrovial Agroman will participate in the construction work.
