Operator of Terminal 4 at New York-JFK names new CEO

JFK International Air Terminal, LLC (JFKIAT), the operator of Terminal 4 at New York's John F Kennedy International Airport has a new CEO, Dutchman, Roel Huinink.

Huinink, an international transportation executive with two decades of leadership in business development, commercial management and marketing consulting, will replace Gert-Jan de Graaff on August 1.

Gert-Jan de Graaff, who has served as JFKIAT's president and CEO since 2014, is moving to Australia to become the boss of Brisbane Airport.

Huinink will oversee day-to-day operations at Terminal 4, which is one of the most active air terminals in the United States with more than 21 million annual travellers.

JFKIAT is a US affiliate of Amsterdam Schiphol operator, the Royal Schiphol Group.

“Throughout my career, I’ve gained invaluable experiences across several areas of airport management,” says Huinink.

“Having the opportunity to channel this expertise – in conjunction with my passion for people management and a results-driven leadership approach – for this new role at the New York-area’s most active air terminals is a tremendous honour.”

He currently serves as programme director at The Royal Dutch Touring Club ANWB, a Netherlands-based organisation offering a wide range of services in the areas of recreation, tourism and mobility while actively lobbying in the fields of driving, mobility, travel and recreation.
Huinink has a 15-year history with Royal Schiphol Group, where he held various management positions from 1999 to 2014, including as managing director of Arlanda Schiphol Development Company, a retail management enterprise which seeks to boost non-aviation revenue and consumer satisfaction at Stockholm Arlanda and Goteborg Landvetter airports in Sweden.

He has also been director of parking and mobility services at Amsterdam Schiphol in the Netherlands.

“I am both eager and proud to return to the Royal Schiphol Group family and assume the role of JFKIAT’s CEO. I look forward to embarking on this next phase of my career at Terminal 4,” adds Huinink.
