Sydney Airport has completed a $3 million revamp of its Terminal 1 taxi rank and revealed plans to upgrade the Terminal 2 taxi area by the end of the year. The work is aimed at reducing traffic congestion.

The T1 taxi rank overhaul has increased the number of vehicle spaces from 12 to 20 and an additional taxi rank has been built at the international terminal for maxi-cabs.

A further US$1 million will be spent on upgrading the taxi rank at T2 – the domestic terminal – increasing capacity from 10 to 15 spaces. Work will start in August and be finished by the end of the year.

The upgrade at T2 will include a new undercover walkway from the terminal to the public pick up area.

The pre-booked taxi area will be relocated to increase capacity from six to 20 spaces, and certain bus stops will also be relocated in order to separate buses and taxis.
