New ‘pet relief’ areas at Washington Dulles International Airport boast a mock-up of a fire hydrant placed on artificial, ‘paw-friendly’ grass in a fenced in area.
Designed to give travellers’ a new option when their pet or service animal needs a bathroom break while at the airport, three can be found outside the main terminal building while two are inside the midfield concourses for the convenience of ticketed connecting passengers.
The indoor locations also feature unique ventilation and flushing/drainage systems to maintain clean facilities.
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has also opened four pet relief areas on natural grass, near the pre-security side of Terminals A, B and C.
