A record breaking June helped ensure that Frankfurt Airport registered a 1.4% rise in passengers and a 32% rise in cargo tonnage during the first six months of 2010.

The gateway welcomed more people and handled more freight then in any previous June when it served 4.8 million passengers (+7%) and 192,500 tonnes of cargo (30%) while aircraft movements climbed 2.7% on the same period a year ago.

Its best ever June means that the airport handled a total of 24.5 million passengers and more than one million tonnes of cargo in the first half of the year.

Fraport’s executive board chairman, Dr Stefan Schulte, enthuses: “These numbers convincingly show that the finance and economic crisis has been overcome and that the aviation industry, despite several small traffic blips, is back on track to reaching and even exceeding the results of the pre-crisis years."
