Chopin Airport’s newly built south pier was turned into a catwalk during its unveiling ceremony yesterday, as the gateway played host to the Polish fashion world.
To introduce the new pier – which has not yet been opened to the public – Polish fashion brand Simple Creative Products presented its new collection at a fashion show held at the gateway.
The new south pier, including the moving walkways, was transformed into Poland’s longest catwalk at 110 metres, as 400 guests including various Polish celebrities and journalists gathered to watch the show.
According to Chopin Airport, the entire show was inspired by the idea of air travel ands guest received invitations in the form of airline tickets and used jet bridges to enter the pier.
There was also a running commentary over the airport loudspeakers, and additional information displayed on flight information screens.
Radosław Żuk, director of Chopin Airport’s PR Bureau, said: “We wanted to present the new pier in an unusual way.
“We thought that it would make the perfect setting for a fashion show. SIMPLE agreed to showcase its new collection at our airport and it turned out to be a great success.
“Transformed into a fashion runway, the pier looked impressive.”
The pier will be officially opened at the end of July, increasing the number of waiting areas at the airport to 46 and the number of passenger bridges to 27.
It will also offer six new shops and catering outlets, as well as special smoking areas.
