Stockholm Skavsta hits record passenger numbers

Passenger numbers at Stockholm’s Skavsta airport jumped 6.1% in July, making it the busiest month on record for the gateway.

Passenger numbers at Stockholm’s Skavsta airport jumped 6.1% in July, making it the busiest month on record for the gateway.


More than 300,000 passengers passed through the Ryanair hub in July, an increase of 6.1% compared with the same month a year earlier.


Furthermore, since the beginning of the year, more than 1.5 million passengers have flown through Skavsta, an increase of 4.1% compared with the first seven months of 2010.


Stockholm Skavsta is Sweden's third largest airport and has 57 routes, of which 45 are Ryanair destinations.


Passenger traffic at the airport for 2010 was just over 2.5mppa.


Dot Gade Kulovuori, managing director at Stockholm Skavsta Airport, said: “For the first time in the airport’s history we passed the 300,000 mark under one month and never before have we had so many single days with more than 10,000 passengers.”
