London City Airport claims to be the most punctual gateway in the UK, based on the Civi Aviation Authority's latest on-time performance statistics.
CAA data shows that 89% of London City Airport's flights departed or arrived on schedule during the second quarter of 2011 – three percentage points higher than any other major UK airport.
Indeed, while punctuality declined at some of the other UK airports monitored by the CAA during Q2 2011, it actually improved at London City Airport.
The airport believes that its lofty status pays testament to its investment in additional aircraft parking stands in 2008, along with the ground operations team working closely with all airlines operating at London City Airport to deliver the most efficient and punctual service.
During the second quarter of 2011, London City Airport had an impressive average delay time of only six minutes, half of that at London Heathrow and Manchester Airport.
London City Airport's CEO, Richard Gooding, says “We are delighted with the performance shown in the CAA statistics.
"Our ground staff strive to ensure that passengers and airline’s enjoy fast throughput at all times. With the best punctuality levels and close proximity to the financial districts and City, London City Airport is the number one choice for business travellers”.
