Delhi-Indira Gandhi International Airport is to install six new state-of-art explosives detection systems (EDS) supplied by Morpho Detection in its newly opened Terminal 3.

The CTX 9400 DSi machines – the first in India to use computed tomography (CT) imaging technology to inspect checked baggage – are expected to significantly reduce false alarm rates and the need for secondary inspections.

“Morpho Detection is pleased to bring CT technology for checked bag screening to India,” says Dennis Cooke, president and CEO, Morpho Detection, Inc. “With the adoption of the CTX 9400 explosives detection solution, Indira Gandhi Airport serves as a model for the future of aviation security across India.”

When fully operational, the new terminal will have an annual capacity of 34 million passengers.
