Pteris Global has won the $5 million contract to supply and install a baggage handling system at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HXIA) in China.
As part of HXIA’s expansion plans, the logistics company has been contracted to design and install three check-in islands with 84 counters, as well as six baggage departure lines, six departure carousels, and eight arrival carousels, at the gateway’s Terminal 3.
Oon Choong Howe, CEO of Pteris Global, said: “We are pleased to secure this significant order from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, which re-affirms our competitive position in China.
“This second order from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport also reinforces our proven track record of providing reliable state-of-the-art Baggage Handling Systems as a leading global airport logistics systems provider.”
Pteris Global supplied the baggage handling system for the airport’s Terminal 1 back in 2000.
HXIA handled 17mppa in 2010, and after it has completed its expansion plans in 2012, it expects this number to jump to 25.6mppa.
