SSP Canada and Toronto Pearson International Airport have teamed up with a number of local Ontario farms and dairies to open a 92sqm Camden Food Co at the gateway’s Terminal 1.
The Camden Food Co is a concept committed to offering passengers healthy eating options and uses the freshest possible foods sourced from the local community to make its menu.
The environment-conscious Camden Food Co offers passengers a range of locally-sourced coffees, juices, and snacks including breakfast paninis, pastries, cheeses, garden-fresh vegetables as well as an array of items in its salad bar.
Meanwhile, the company is keen to use energy efficient dimmable lighting, non-toxic, low VOC paints and food served in earth friendly containers and cups, as part of its commitment to having a minimal impact on the environment.
In terms of décor, Camden Food Co also aims to give passengers a sense of being at an old farm decorated with reclaimed and salvaged wood.
Les Cappetta, CEO of SSP Canada, said: “Camden is the perfect example of how good things come when a community works together in harmony to bring its passion for good, honest food to the table.
“Time and time again, we’ve found that passengers want fresh, local, wholesome options to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle – even when they travel.”
Camden Food Co. can also be found at Vancouver International, Indianapolis International, Raleigh-Durham International, Sacramento International airports.
Coming in 2012, the concept will also be offered at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental, Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International and San Diego International airports.
